The Syro-Malabar church uses systematic proclamation and faith-catechesis to carry out Christ's teachings. The word "catechesis" comes from the Greek word "Katekein," which means "resound from above" and "oral instruction." Therefore, catechesis refers to teaching the teachings of Christ and reiterating Christ as the teacher.
In 2011, two parents decided to start catechism classes for twelve pupils in their homes, guided by Fr. Antony Pedickattukunnel MST.
With the help of 25 committed teachers, over 165 kids are enrolled and regularly attend Sunday catechism lessons as of October 2024.
We cherish the correct formation of our children in our traditions and faith. Our community is fortunate to have a large number of leaders and priests who take the initiative to start catechesis. Monsignor Father Francis Kolenchery, our Eparchy's Bishop Emeritus Bosco Puthur, hoped that our children's faith development would be methodical and productive.
In addition to the traditional Sunday lessons, our catechism departments offer the kids a variety of classes and activities, such as Bible Fest, Holyween, Faith Fest, and Bible reading challenge.
